THE EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT SYSTEMS MEASUREMENT IN KENYA

The ECD Network for Kenya has been implementing the Early Childhood Development (ECD) systems measurements study research project in Kenya since 2022. This study was implemented in three countries namely; Kenya, Mozambique, and Tanzania. In Kenya, ECDNeK collaborated with Mathematica, a US –based research organization and was funded by the Conrad Hilton Foundation. The project aimed to assess the progress of systems-level components outlined in the Hilton Foundation’s 2020-2025 strategy (S25).

The objective of the project was to develop an actionable ECD systems measurement framework; collecting related monitoring and evaluation data on ECD systems progress with a focus on policy, governance, multi-sectoral coordination and financing at the subnational level. The project also entails creating a plan for data use in collaboration with the Foundation and its partners including government and the broader ECD community. The ultimate goal is to provide valuable insights that would inform ECD systems-level learning, shape policy decisions, guide best practices, and influence programmatic choices in each geographic area.
